A wine tasting tour is one of the best ways to learn more about wine.

Elite hight society members were the only ones able to go on wine tasting tours many years ago. Nowadays you can join these once elite groups. It doesn’t matter if you are an avid wine lover or a complete novice you can attend the wine tasting tour.

You should be equipped to join the assorted activities available if you are new to the tour. The tours are of two types. The experienced or so called “experts” are the ones who normally organize the first tour, the second is one you would usually arrange yourself.

Joining one of the experienced wine tasting groups would be recommended for a first timer. That way, you will have planned activities for each day. Make a note of the activities you get involved in so when its time to go on your own you have a plan on what to do during your tour.

A good place to start would be the Internet, there you can find lots of information on tours near you. If its out of town, you have to make the necessary preparations. Inform the organizers about your whereabouts and where you plan to meet with them.Make arrangement to meet the tour company at a place that is convenient.} Make sure you are at the meeting point in plenty of time as they will not wait for you. The vineyard you will be visiting are spread all over so the tour will only last normally for one day. If your tour included moving from one vineyard to another most of the time will be traveling so it will need to set off early morning.

Vineyards allow 4-6 oz of wine as samplers. 1 Oz of wine is plenty as a sample but remember there are lots of different wines so be care full how much you drink. If you are driving make sure you don’t drink too much, in fact the best way would be to not drive at all if you are testing so many wines.

There are private companies that can help you out with your wine tasting tours, they organize all the itinerary making your trip less stressful. You can leave it to the tour company to organize the day and any other task to make your tour as perfect as possible.

If you have been asked to a wine sampling party don’t concern yourself if you don’t know what to look out for. This may be your first wine tasting holiday and you a likely inquisitive about what comes next.

When the day comes for tasting wine, it is important that you should eat your breakfast. Make sure that your morning meal includes complex carbohydrates and fats. Including these will maintain your sugar levels.

Ladies should not wear any kind of lipstick or lip gloss while wine sampling. The oils or even the odor from the lip rouge can make a striking difference to the taste of the wine so avoid wearing lipstick just for that day.

The ladies or gents should not wear strong perfume or cologne as this will have the same effect as lipstick.

Even if there are wine makers or vineyards that let individuals sample their wine for free, most wineries charge tasting fees that run from 5 dollars to 25 dollars per individual. There are some good deals to be found at these wine tasting days, you can even get a free glass with the purchase of some wines.

When you visit the wineries make sure you wear good walking shoes. Wineries are more like your regular working farm so fashion shoes are not a good idea to wear.

Dressing up is a no-no whenever you are in Wine Country, remember you are not going out for dinner but to a put of work. You may be going for a meal in high end eating places after the wine sampling day, then you might want to bring a change of clothing.

If you genuinely want to savor every drop of vino when you visit Wine Country, then you might want to plan beforehand and hire a guide. By doing so, you will be able to have an expert work out your itinerary and activities that will be able to help you save a lot of valuable time and money. Drinking and driving don’t go together so make a point that if you are going to drink a lot of vino you engage one of these expert guides.
